Emerson
Process Solutions’ Hydrocarbon and Energy Industry Center has
a long history of commissioning and startup experience in all disciplines
including instrumentation, electrical, mechanical, and telecommunications.
Our commissioning staff are seasoned technologists and tradespeople
who are long-term employees. Our commissioning staff have expertise
performing construction management, commissioning, turnover, and startup
activities. |

The
Challenge |
| |
|
| |
The
goal of any commissioning and startup project is to move from the
construction phase to a revenue generating facility as quickly as
possible, while ensuring that the facility is operated in a safe and
productive manner.
|
 |
The
Solution |
|
| |
Our
Commissioning Documentation Assistant (CDA) is a custom software application
that captures commissioning test results and imports them into your
maintenance management program. This robust tool has been modeled
and tested by our experienced commissioning technicians.

The
Benefits |
|
| |
|
|
| |
A
documented commissioning and startup process ensures consistent work
practices and provides an audit trail for future maintenance. CDA
uses Microsoft Access to assist with the QA/QC functions performed
by Emerson Process Solutions’ Hydrocarbon and Energy Industry
Center and client personnel during commissioning activities. CDA tracks
the commissioning status for each tag and generates standardized documentation
while maintaining an ongoing history of the commissioning activity.
Once the commissioning activity is completed and the facility has
reached the startup phase, the information in CDA can be integrated
into maintenance programs, like SAP, to provide baseline maintenance
information on the plant. Modifications, changes, and work done during
commissioning are electronically captured and retained as history
for the plant maintenance team. CDA is easily reconfigured to meet
the unique needs of our clients. |

Our
Field Services group has written procedures for the commissioning
of many different types of plant processes and equipment. Engaging
our technicians means that you are provided with commissioning procedures
and checklists that are proven, tested, and modified for each application
and equipment type. In turn, using our procedures will save you time
and money. |

Management and Development—Hibernia is an offshore production
platform designed to produce 90,000 barrels per day for an estimated
25 years. Our Ready for Operations team was responsible for the instrumentation,
electrical, mechanical, operations, and telecommunications commissioning
with over 350,000 person hours and peaked at over 120 technicians.

Nova
Chemicals—This central Alberta-based ethylene facility underwent
a $5 billion expansion in the late 1990s. All aspects of the instrument
and electrical commissioning were performed by Kenonic technicians
and peaked at over 80 personnel.
