| Emerson
Process Solutions’ Hydrocarbon and Energy Industry Center uses,
sells, implements, and supports plant information (PI) systems. |
| |
| The
Challenge |
  |
Process
data historians are essential to understanding and monitoring plant
performance. The challenge is finding the right partner to implement,
support, and
enhance your PI systems. The worldwide standard for process data management
and history is OSIsoft PI. With over 6,000 systems installed, PI is
the right choice for our customers’ plant information systems. |
| |
| The
Solution |
 |
| We
have implemented PI systems at more than 45 sites in Europe, North
America, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia Pacific. We integrate PI
with multiple distributed control systems (DCS), lab information management
systems, and enterprise applications. We support PI systems and provide
training to maximize effectiveness. We develop standard and custom
applications using PI tools and technology. |

Benefits |
|
| |
|
|
| |
The
PI system closes the time and information gap between management and
production operations. Simultaneously acquiring, routing, processing,
and displaying real-time operation data allows decision makers to
make faster, more informed decisions. This enables enhanced competitive
agility, better predictive maintenance, precise batch and quality
control, timely reporting, and more comprehensive analysis and planning.
Our customers’ enterprises become more efficient and profitable
by using the PI
system.

PI
collects real-time process data via a library of over 300 DCS and
other real-time system interfaces. Data is stored in a unified and
compressed time-series format. PI processes and aggregates the raw
data into usable information that is required by management
to make timely and informed decisions. |
|
| |
Key
PI system capabilities include: |
|
| |
•
data historian (collects and retains history of process, lab, and
other real-time measurement data and makes the data available for
fast retrieval and trending) |
|
| |
•
software application data source (provides a consistent source of
data and calculations for higher-level applications such as advanced
process control, real-time optimization, production accounting, and
key performance indicator (KPI) monitoring) |
|
| |
•
software integration tool (brings data from multiple DCS and other
applications to a common database with uniform access) |
|
| |
•
desktop PC and web browser data retrieval (provides trending, graphical
process data display, and analysis using standard desktop tools such
as Microsoft Excel) |
|
| |
•
enterprise resource planning (ERP) system integration and maintenance
management systems (MMS) integration |
|
| |
•
production yield accounting (PI Sigmafine) |
|
| |
|
|
| |
We
provide a full range of PI system services, including: |
|
| |
•
planning, architecture, and requirements
• implementation
• display and report development
• application development using PI tools
• integration with multiple DCS applications,
lab information management, maintenance
management, and ERP
